20 Below Brings Specialty Ice Cream to Hardeman County
20 Below held its ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, just in time for ice cream lovers everywhere with the official start of summer being a little over one week away. Hardeman County Chamber members, local officials, and people from the community came out to welcome the business that had a grand opening on Saturday, June 8, 2024.
Rolled ice cream originated in Southeast Asia and has now made its way to Hardeman County. Instead of scooping the ice cream straight from a bucket, owners, Trip and Katie Berta, worked side-by-side preparing the delectable treat through a process that includes spreading a milk-cream base onto a frozen metal pan, chopping and mixing it for several minutes, rolling – once its properly frozen – into spirals, and then placing ice cream rolls into a serving cup.
20 Below has its own creations with titles like Coconut Roll, Triple Chocolate Threat, Unicorn Magic, and customers are able to create their own special rolled ice cream treat with mix-ins and drizzles of their choice. Customers may also choose from house specials of deep-fried Oreos and a brownie roll.
Trip and Katie have been serving rolled ice cream for three years. They started with a food truck frequently making stops in Hardeman County. On Thursday, May 23, 2024, 20 Below announced on its Facebook page it was opening a store front in Bolivar. Katie shared a bit about what makes the ice cream so delicious.
“It has less air incorporated into it, making it creamier,” said Katie.
20 Below served customers streaming through all day long even until the doors closed for business at 7 p.m. that came to get their rolled ice cream treat. Trip and Katie are ready and excited to serve their customers.
20 Below is located at 105 North Main Street, in Bolivar with store hours of Tuesday – Thursday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday – Saturday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., every other Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Monday it is closed. Call (731) 403-8747 for more information.
