Grand Junction Library programs:

May activity at the Grand Junction Public Library is exciting! We are starting to see the Accelerated Reading Program (AR) wind down for this school year but will pick back up when schools reopen in August. With AR slowing down, we are getting in high gear for our Summer Reading Program (SRP) that will take place every Thursday afternoon in June. It is for ages through 10 years old. Also, older children are welcome and needed as volunteers. Our SRP will include crafts, games, snacks, and of course reading! We will also feature instruction on interacting and caring for dogs and pets. I wonder if Moose will join us again this year? He is always a huge hit with the children and the adults also.

In May, the American Job Center is sponsoring a Hiring Event (job fair) at the library on Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Come dressed and prepared to interview with area employers.

Finally, in May, the Grand Junction Library is sponsoring a free computer class for senior adults. Each participant will receive a free Chromebook computer upon completion of the course. The course is 15 hours of classroom instruction that will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on May 9, 11, 16, 19, and 23, 2023. You must pre-register at the Library or by notifying epickle@swhra.org or pam.vandiver@swhra.org. Take advantage of this awesome free opportunity!

The Library is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Wednesdays and Fridays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Lee Ola Roberts- Whiteville Library programs:
  • Chair Yoga on May 2, 2023 at 10 a.m.
  • Summer Food Program starts on May 30, 2023. It will run until school starts back up. It is 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday for people 18 and under.
