Bolivar Shootings Lead to Police Saturation in East End

At the June meeting of the Bolivar City Council, Bolivar Police Chief Mike Jones reported a reduction in weekend crime after a law enforcement saturation in Bolivar’s east end. Chief Jones reported working together with multiple agencies to combat the problem with recent shootings in the area.

According to a representative from the City of Bolivar, there have been nine reports of shots fired on the east side of Bolivar in the past two months. In one incident, an individual received a minor injury. There were seven reports of property damage resulting from the shootings, and in one instance, there was no individual or property damage reported.

At the council meeting, Chief Jones also shared the department’s monthly report which included 699 calls for service, 229 citations issued, 22 accident responses, and 36 arrests, including 10 juveniles.
