Willie Mae Heard ~ May 3, 1935 ~ August 3, 2023 (age 88)
Willie Mae Heard was born May 3, 1935, in Newbern, Tennessee to the late Gilmore and Jessie Lue Wyatt. She departed her life in Hardeman County, Tennessee on Thursday August 3, 2023.
Her funeral service will be held at Jones Chapel MB Church on Saturday August 12, 2023, 1 p.m. with Pastor Micheal Rhyan in charge. Burial will be in the church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home is in charge of the professional service.
For over 37 years, Willie was a dedicated and hard working employee of Harman Automotive, until her retirement. She enjoyed shopping and fishing as her hobbies.
Willie Mae accepted Christ at an early age and later joined Jones Grove Missionary Baptist Church. As a member of Jones Grove, Willie Mae served faithfully as an usher and loved praising God.
Willie Mae was united in Holy Matrimony to Bobby Joe Heard Sr. at an early age and remained married until his death in 1995. From the love of this union, six children were born. Willie Mae also raised two more children as her own.
Willie was preceded in death by two sons, James (Edna) Heard and Willie Lee (Gloria) Heard; two grandsons, Tremon Wilkes and Randy Heard; five sisters, Louise Clark, Clara Barber, Virginia Mae Dell Smith, Joe Evelyn Haddix, and Ida Mae Anderson; and two brothers, Theodore Wyatt and Robert Clark.
Willie leaves to cherish her memory her loving four children, Bobby Joe Heard Jr., Rosie Heard Pugh, Jackie Lee Heard, and Florence Green Buggs; two loving children she raised as her own, Shirley McKinnie and Minister Dorothy (Willie Ray) Robertson; two loving sisters, Jackie Todd and Lee Anna (Chester) Clardy; eighteen loving grandchildren; eighteen loving great-grandchildren; one loving great-great grandchild; one sister-in-love, Mattie Hullom; two brothers-in-love, George and Donnie Heard; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her tremendously.
