Obituary: Joyce Bowden

Joyce Bowden ~ January 3, 1969 – September 19, 2023 (age 54)

On January 3, 1969, God blessed Minnie Pearl Bowden and Robert Lee Harris with a baby girl that they blessed with the name Joyce Delina Bowden.

She was also known as Joyce B. Joyce attended and graduated from Bolivar Central High School. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. Joyce was employed at Pine Meadows Rehabilitation Center for 22 years until her health failed. She loved to cook, play cards, go to bingo, and spend time with her family. Joyce had a heart of gold and never met a stranger.

She gained her wings on September 19, 2023. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lillie Bowden; and grandmother, Myrtle Jones. She leaves to cherish her memory two children. Jeremy (Latonya) Perry and Jelisa Perry: five grandchildren, JaKevion Gray, Kentige Joy, Jr., Khaliya Perry, Jacob Jones, and Jamey Rhodes, Jr.; her brother and sisters, Roy (Annette) Justice, Lisa Bowden, and Delores Bowden; two special friends that were always a phone call away. Robert “KP” Perry and Teresa “WeeWee” Rhodes. Joyce will also be remembered as the fun aunt by her nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own. Her beautiful smile and cooking will be missed by a host of family, friends, and others who knew and loved her.

Joyce’s memorial service will be held at the Jerome Boyd Chapel at Dixie Funeral Home on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. with Reverend Johnny Nelson in charge. Dixie Funeral Home is in charge of the professional service.
