Obituary: Faye Brooks
Faye Brooks ~ August 6, 1944 – November 21, 2023 (age 79)
Faye Brooks, born on August 6, 1944, in Alabama, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, in Jackson, Tennessee. She was surrounded by her loving family during her final moments. Faye dedicated her life to her family and will always be remembered for her loving nature.
Faye was a devoted member of the Big Springs Methodist Church and found solace in her faith. She worked as a supervisor at Masterslack for over 30 years, showcasing not only her dedication but also her strong work ethic. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Faye embraced the role of a homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for her family.
One of Faye’s greatest passions was gardening. She had an innate green thumb and took great pride in tending to her flowers. Seeing the beauty she cultivated brought immense joy to her heart. Faye also enjoyed visiting yard sales, where she found pleasure in discovering unique treasures and bargains. However, above all else, Faye’s family held the most significant place in her heart.
Faye is survived by her daughter, Shelia Duncan Dean of Lexington; a half-brother, Dalton Thrasher of Alabama; three grandchildren who meant the world to her, Dennis Duncan, Jr. of Lexington, Casey Duncan Rivers (Gregory) of Parsons, and Matthew James Maness of Middleton; and 10 great grandchildren. Not to be forgotten is Faye’s loyal companion “Lil Bit,” who stood faithfully by her side until the very end. “Lil Bit” brought comfort and companionship to Faye during her final years, and their bond was unbreakable.
Chapel services are at Shackelford Funeral Home in Bolivar on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 2 p.m. with burial in Big Springs Cemetery near Medon.
Faye is preceded in death by her father, James Arthur Thrasher, and mother, Ruth Mae Franks Thrasher; her beloved husband, Martin Brooks; her daughter, Betty Jean Maness; and siblings, Troy Thrasher and Mae Jean Jackson. Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
