Sarah, a woman of remarkable spirit, unwavering love, and entrepreneurial brilliance, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2023, at the age of 83. Born in New York City in 1940, Sarah spent her formative years amidst the vibrant cultures of Connecticut and Philadelphia, where she developed a deep appreciation for arts, literature, and the beauty of the natural world.

Sarah’s academic journey led her to the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a degree that reflected her inquisitive mind and passion for art history. After graduation, she embarked on the most fulfilling chapter of her life: raising a family. She lovingly nurtured her children in Washington D.C. and Philadelphia, instilling in them values of compassion, resilience, and a zest for life.

In 1980, Sarah’s entrepreneurial spirit took flight when she opened a charming fresh pasta shop in Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania. With her unwavering determination and culinary expertise, she transformed her passion for food into a thriving business. Her delectable pasta creations, crafted with love and a keen eye for detail, became a cherished staple in the community.

Beyond her entrepreneurial success, Sarah’s true passion lay in her love for hunting dogs. She developed a deep affinity for these canine companions, fostering a lifelong commitment to their well-being and preservation. She and her husband of over 30 years, Garett E. Lockee established a renowned museum in Grand Junction, Tennessee, dedicated to showcasing the history and legacy of bird dogs.

Throughout her life, Sarah exemplified the qualities of a true matriarch. She was a pillar of strength and unwavering support for her family, always ready to lend a listening ear, offer sage advice, and celebrate their triumphs with unwavering enthusiasm. Her quiet humor, warm embrace, deep faith, and genuine kindness touched the lives of countless individuals, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.

Sarah’s legacy extends far beyond her entrepreneurial ventures and contributions to the world of hunting dogs. She was a beacon of love, compassion, and unwavering resilience, inspiring those around her to embrace life with passion and pursue their dreams with determination. Her memory will forever be cherished by her loving children, grandchildren, and the countless individuals whose lives she touched.

There will be a private burial followed by a funeral service on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at First Baptist Church Grand Junction, 134 Washington Avenue, Grand Junction, Tennessee, 38039. Please gather at the Church at 11 a.m. to share stories of remembrance. Services will begin at 12 p.m. followed by a reception at the La Grange Community Center, 14600 La Grange Road, La Grange, Tennessee, 38046.
