Arts Council Announces Its 2024/2025 Theatre Season

The Hardeman County Arts Council announced its 2024/2025 season, and it is full of familiar productions the company believes will heighten the interests of both regular patrons and new audience members drawing them into the seats as they prepare for another exciting season. The productions include two musicals, one comedy, and a murder mystery dinner theatre with a goal of providing a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone in Hardeman County.

The new season begins in September 2024 with the following lineup:

June 2025: The Odd Couple – Comedy meets camaraderie in this hilarious production! This classic comedy centers around uptight, neat Felix Ungar and easygoing, disheveled Oscar Madison as new roommates.

HCAC President Brandon Burvee shared the company is aiming to attract a broad audience, from families enjoying Disney classics to those seeking a night of laughter and suspense with Drop Dead Disco and The Odd Couple. Burvee also shared which production he is most looking forward to seeing on the HCAC stage.

“I am excited about all the productions in our upcoming 2024-2025 season. Each production brings its own unique charm and artistic value, contributing to a diverse and exciting cultural experience for our community. But, if I had to pick one, I would say Mary Poppins JR. is the production that I am the most excited about,” said Burvee.

Although the HCAC has two more theatrical productions for its current season, Death of a Hot Sauce Salesman and Southern Fried Funeral, preparations are already underway for the 2024/2025 productions. Burvee noted there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes not only before rehearsal, but even before auditions and a play is cast.

“We are already reading scripts, working on prop and costume lists, brainstorming our set design and props, and figuring out technical aspects for these productions,” said Burvee, who hopes to create a sense of anticipation and excitement as the HCAC continues to establish itself as a vital part of the community through its offerings. “The Hardeman County Arts Council plays a vital role in our community by fostering creativity, cultural enrichment, and community engagement. The arts are integral to the well-being of a community and are essential in education. They contribute to individual and collective development, enrich cultural experiences, and create a more vibrant, connected, and dynamic society. It provides recreational and entertainment options, making the community a more attractive and enjoyable place to live, as well as promoting tourism in our community.”

The Hardeman County Arts Center is where county residents have been able to come since 2005 to enjoy live theatre, concerts, and more recently art classes and karaoke to feature other areas of fine arts. As a non-profit organization, Burvee noted the HCAC exists and survives from the shared interest and generosity of the community.

“The combined efforts of community members, volunteers, businesses, and supporters are essential for the HCAC to thrive. By actively participating and contributing in various ways, the community can ensure the continued success and cultural enrichment provided by the Hardeman County Arts Council.” said Burvee. “Some of the ways people can support the HCAC is by attending events, volunteering (contact us at arts@hcactn.org), becoming members, and through donation.

Next on the HCAC stage is Death of a Hot Sauce Salesman. You may purchase tickets online or at the HCAC box office Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
