City of Bolivar Councilman Chris Williams to Hold Town Hall Meeting

Bolivar City Councilman Chris Williams will hold his first Town Hall Meeting of the year on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 6 p.m. at Carriage House Coffee in Bolivar. The goal of the meeting is to serve as a platform for community engagement and collaboration in shaping Bolivar’s future.

Speakers for the meeting will include Julian McTizic, City of Bolivar Mayor; Chief Michael Jones, City of Bolivar Police Chief; Vickie Walton, Executive Director of the Hardeman County Chamber; and Jeremy Burnett, Director of Lone Oaks Farm. The topics they will cover include Bolivar City Council and Hardeman County Chamber of Commerce updates, public safety, blight issues, and STEM at Lone Oaks Farm.

Williams, who was elected to the Bolivar City Council in May 2023, has been very active in the City of Bolivar and Hardeman County communities. He believes transparency inspires trust and promotes accountability and town hall meetings are an effective way that lead to both.

“Town hall meetings provide a platform for our citizens to actively participate in local decision-making processes. This involvement fosters a sense of community and encourages citizens to take an active role in shaping the future of Bolivar,” said Williams. “These meetings promote transparency by allowing local elected officials to share information about city policies, projects, and initiatives. It gives community members the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarifications, contributing to an open and informed community. When citizens feel heard and see that their concerns and issues are being addressed, it enhances confidence in local government.”

Williams invites and encourages the public to attend the Town Hall Meeting, and hopes they do.
