Old Hatchie Veterinary Clinic’s Jerry Wilhite named Outstanding Practitioner of the Year
Jerry Wilhite, DVM, of Old Hatchie Veterinary Clinic may have retired from regular practice in August 2023, but he is still making an impression in his profession as an active member of the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA). His continued work was recently recognized by the TVMA that named him Outstanding Practitioner of the Year during the Music City Veterinary Conference, which was held on Saturday, March 2, 2024.
During his 40 years with Old Hatchie Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Wilhite had the opportunity to work alongside his brother, Dr. Frank Wilhite, and right before his retirement, with his niece, Dr. Whitney Wilhite, as they carried on the Wilhite legacy that his father created 70 years ago with the opening of the veterinary clinic.
Dr. Wilhite has served on the Tennessee Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, on the Executive Board of TVMA, served on the board of the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Foundation, and currently serves on the board of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. He and his practice have been longtime supporters of Lone Oak Farm, part of the UTIA system, Hardeman County Adoptable Animals, and the Boy Scouts.
In Hardeman County, Dr. Wilhite served for 12 years as a Bolivar city council member and is currently the chairman of the Bolivar Utility Board.
In his retirement, Dr. Wilhite was looking forward to working on his farm, and with his wife, Carla, traveling and being able to spend more time with their grandchildren.
