Required Training Offered for Elected Officials (New & Incumbent)

The County Officials Orientation Program (COOP) provides county officials, both newly elected and re-elected, with valuable information to help prepare them to assume office on September 1, 2022.

Although COOP is geared toward newly-elected county officials, incumbents are welcome to attend.

Training topics include county offices and authority, oaths and bonds, personnel issues, ethics, conflicts of interest, open meetings, and records.

Beginning September 1, 2018, newly-elected or newly-appointed county commissioners are required to complete orientation training provided by CTAS under T.C.A. § 5-5-113. In addition, those newly elected members will also be required to complete seven hours of continuing education provided or approved by CTAS on an annual basis.
