Men’s Night, an Evening of Exercise and Education

June is National Men’s Health Month and Total Transformation partnered with Minister Willie Tisdale on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, to present Men’s Night, an evening of exercise and health awareness for men. The collaborative effort brought out more than 23 men who took some time for themselves by attending the class and getting a physical workout.

Men’s Night was held at 5:30 p.m. during the regular time when Total Transformation holds its weekly Line Dance and Fitness Class that is largely attended by women at the City of Bolivar Gymnasium. Since many of the regular Line Dance class attendees did not want to miss their exercise routine, they too attended the Men’s Night class that was intentional and rigorous and had more than 60 people in attendance. Although many of the regular Line Dance students were able to “keep up” with the pace of Mr. Tisdale’s class, it was challenging, and they all left with full body workouts.

More than 60 people came out to exercise and learn how to care for their bodies.

“Although the women were a little more flexible, Mr. Tisdale gave them all a good workout,” said Melissa McTizic of Total Transformation, who shared comments she received from students the day after the class. “There were reports from both men and women of being a little sore the next day.”

Although many students had to nurse sore bodies the day after class, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Along with providing a good workout, Mr. Tisdale brought attention to the need for men, and not just women, to take time to properly care for their health, a fact Ms. McTizic promotes through Total Transformation.

Although the evening was geared towards men. many women who attend the Line Dance and Fitness class came out to get in their bi-weekly exercise.

“We (Total Transformation) are about mind, body, and spirit,” said Melissa McTizic, founder of Total Transformation. “One’s health is essential. Many times, women will go get checkups before men will. However, it is just as important because they [men] are just as susceptible to strokes, heart attacks, and cancer as women are, if not more.  Early detection of these things can prolong life.”
