Obituary: Mae Sneed

Mae Sneed ~ Mae Sneed – July 23, 2024 (age 93)

On a somber day in the summer of 2024, the world bid farewell to a beloved soul, Mae Sneed. She was born on September 28, 1930, in the quaint town of Hopewell, Mississippi, where she took her first breath and began a journey that would touch the lives of many.

Mae was known for her unwavering dedication to creating a loving home as a homemaker and for her devout faith as a member of Grand Junction Church of Christ. Her gentle spirit and kind heart resonated with all who had the privilege of knowing her.

As a woman who found joy in simple pleasures, Mae found solace in the company of her family and her cherished cats. Her passion for sewing, quilting, and gardening manifested in beautiful creations that will serve as lasting testaments to her talent and creativity. Above all, she treasured the gatherings at her church and the warmth of her church family.

In the embrace of her home in Grand Junction, Tennessee, Mae peacefully departed from this world on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy woven with love and memories that will endure through generations.

Mae is reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband, Clifton M. Sneed, Sr., her parents, Claude and Ruth Ray; her son, Clifton M. Sneed Jr.; and her brothers, Herman Ray, Wade Ray, Orville Ray, and Ervin Ray, along with sister, Maxine Gunn, who have gone before her.

Services will be held at Shackelford Funeral Home on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 3 p.m. in Middleton with the burial in Saulsbury Cemetery. Visitation is at the funeral home on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Middleton, and begins again Friday one hour prior to the service.

She is survived by those who were touched by her grace and kindness: daughters, Marilyn McQuade and Carol Frazier, both of Middleton, and Claudia Sergent and Ricky of Grand Junction; grandchildren, Tim Sneed, Paul Sneed, Melissa Davison, Jackie Waldon, Jay McQuade, Jimmie McQuade, and Joey Frazier; and 13 great-grandchildren who will carry forward the light she brought into their lives.

As we mourn the loss of Mae Sneed here on earth, may we find solace in knowing that she has transcended into everlasting peace. Her memory will live on like a gentle breeze that whispers through our hearts – reminder of a life well-lived and love unending.  Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
