Mayor Pulse Swears in County Winners From August Election
Mayor Todd Pulse swore in the newly elected and reelected Hardeman County Officials on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Hardeman County Courthouse in Bolivar. There were 3,399 ballots cast in the August 1, 2024, election. The results were certified by the Election Commission on Friday, August 16, 2024.
Harriet Thompson, Independent, beat Rickey Griggs, Independent, in the race for General Sessions Judge. Judge Thompson was originally appointed to the position after the retirement of Judge Boyette Denton this spring. Judge Thompson is the first female judge in Hardeman County.
Democrat Michion Gatlin ran unopposed for the unexpired term of the District 1, Position 3, County Commission seat. The seat became available after the passing of Commissioner Thomas Polk in November 2023. The County Commission appointed his wife, Mamie Polk, to fill his seat until the August election.
Incumbent Property Assessor Josh Pulse, Independent, beat his Republican challenger, Larry Crawford, in the August election and will continue serving as the Hardeman County Assessor of Property.
Independent candidate Johnny Davis beat Independent Bill Stone in the race for School Board District 2, Position 2. The position was held by Beverly Bodiford, who chose not to seek reelection.
Democratic candidate Anthony Ford beat Republican Erica Garrison in the race for School Board District 3, Position 1. The position was held by Jerry Crisp, who chose not to seek reelection.
Independent candidate Stacey Swift beat Independent Steven Gibson in the race for School Board District 3, Position 3. The position was held by Terry King, who chose not to seek reelection.
