Support for Domestic Violence Survivors is Available

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month—a time to confront a heartbreaking reality. In 2023, nearly 40 percent of all crimes against persons in Fayette County were linked to domestic violence. These statistics are not just numbers—they represent lives torn apart, and voices silenced in fear.

If you or someone you know is trapped in an abusive relationship, know that there is hope, and there is help. Fayette Cares stands ready with a lifeline of support, offering crucial services such as a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, court advocacy, and more.

This October, we invite you to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with survivors, amplifying their voices and working towards a safer, more compassionate community. You can take action by wearing purple, the color of domestic violence awareness, sharing Fayette Cares’ resources on social media @fayettecares, and learning how to reach out to someone you’re worried about.

To join the mission of Fayette Cares or to seek assistance, please call (901) 465-3802 extension 225, or the statewide hotline at (800) 356-6767. More information is also available at FayetteCares.org/domestic-violence. Together, we can break the cycle.
