Obituary: Doris Marie (Woods) Turner
Doris Turner, 71, of Bolivar returned to her Heavenly Father on September 11, 2024.
Doris Marie Woods-Turner, better known as “Ree”, was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Out of 10 children, Doris was the third child born to the late Luther and Mattie B. Sain-Woods.
She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member.
Doris graduated from Bolivar Central High School in May of 1973.
She was very passionate about helping others. Some of her employments were The Village of St. Edward Senior Home in Ohio, AHC Forest Cove Nursing Home, Western Mental Health Institute, and NHC HealthCare. Her hobbies included cooking, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Turner; her son, Maurice Turner; her parents, Luther and Mattie B. Woods; her grandparents, Aubrey and Idell Sain, Addie B. Smith, and Roosevelt Woods; three brothers, Luis Lloyd “Eddie”, Luther Jr. Woods “Pig/ Luther Boy”, and James A. Woods “Bobby”; one sister, Evelyn J. Robinson “Jean/Buddy”. Doris leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Yasmin Hill; two grandchildren, Nivayah and Noah Hill; one great granddaughter, Aubree Hill; one brother, Cedric Woods; four sisters, Inell Washington, Gazella Coleman, Gwendolyn, and Natalie Woods; three cousins whom were raised like siblings, Kenneth Kelley, Nancy Kelley, and Glenda Jones; one special friend, Mandell Tate; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
