Shoppers can expect to find more than tomatoes at the county farmers markets. Some of the produce sold include cucumbers, corn, potatoes, greens, and peppers, as well as homemade baked goods, and jams and jellies, and more.

Volunteer and give back to your community at one of these locations this weekend (or during the week). If your child will use the Tennessee Promise scholarship in the spring as a new or returning student, they can volunteer at one or more of those locations to satisfy the community service hour requirement. Don’t wait until the last minute. Tennessee Promise hours for spring 2025 students must be completed by Monday, December 2, 2024.

Bolivar Eatz opened last week and will be open as long as vendors are scheduled.

The VFW is holding a donation drive for East Tennessee and North Carolina flood victims. It is seeking clothes, shoes, diapers, and personal hygiene items. No food items or water will be accepted. You may drop off donations at 14840 Highway 18 South, Bolivar 38008, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Items will be picked to be delivered to victims on Monday, October 28, 2024. Bolivar Central High School Homecoming festivities are tonight with a parade, pep rally, tailgate, pregame, and game to follow. It is also Senior Night.

Friday Night Lights for Bolivar Central High School { see football schedule } and Middleton High School { see football schedule }.

Take in a movie at the Luez Theater {219 North Main Street, Bolivar, 38008} where Reagan continues for one more week on the big screen at 7 p.m. Synopsis: From dusty small-town roots, to the glitter of Hollywood, and then on to commanding the world stage, REAGAN is a cinematic journey of overcoming the odds. Told through the voice of Viktor Petrovich, a former KGB agent whose life becomes inextricably linked with Ronald Reagan’s when Reagan first caught the Soviets’ attention as an actor in Hollywood, this film offers a perspective as unique as it is captivating.

Bring your lawn chair and enjoy Music on the Square with the music of The Tidwells opening at 7 p.m. and The Groove Band performing at 8 p.m. This is the last of two concerts for the season.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2024
Breast Cancer Awareness Walk will be held for all ages at the Courthouse Square with prayer beginning at 7:45 a.m. and the walk starting at 8 a.m. After the walk a balloon release in honor of those that lost the battle to cancer will be held at Zion Temple { 760 Mctizic Street, Bolivar, 38008 }. Other e will be a balloon release in honor of those that lost the battle to cancer. A festival will follow. Wear pink!

St, Mary’ Catholic Church { 223 Mecklinburg Drive, Bolivar, 38008 } is holding a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the church.

Grand Junction Ruritan Stew Celebration will be held at the Lafayette Gin { 216 Highway 57 Grand Junction, 38039 }. Pick up after 12 p.m. Quarts are $8 and gallons are $25.

Take in a movie at the Luez Theater {219 North Main Street, Bolivar, 38008} where Reagan will show on the big screen at 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Gospel Music on the Square on the Courthouse Square in Bolivar at 7 p.m. will feature The Kellys from Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.
