Brad Grantham: A New Voice for Tennessee State Representative 80th District

Brad Grantham, a lifelong resident of Hardeman County, launched his candidacy with a vision for inclusive representation and community-driven progress.
Currently a Hardeman County commissioner and manager of The Luez Theater, Grantham is no stranger to public service. His roots in the area run deep; dedicating his life to building not only his construction business but also the community he calls home.
Grantham is keen to emphasize his commitment in representing all constituents in District 80, regardless of political affiliation.
“I believe in the power of cooperation and unity,” Grantham stated. “I will make it my mission to listen to the concerns of everyone in our district and work tirelessly to ensure that their voices are heard in Nashville. We need a representative who prioritizes the people over party.”
Incumbent Johnny Shaw has held this position for 23 years. Shaw has touted various accomplishments during his lengthy tenure, but has not been specific about what those entail. His voting record speaks for itself. In House Bill (1182) Shaw supported transgender equality in school sports and even in the school’s restrooms, leaving many constituents wondering about the tangible impacts of his leadership. Shaw’s voting record, House Bill (2251) also shows he is in favor of taxpayer funded abortions. Grantham’s platform emphasizes transparency, accountability and community service that will focus on the taxpayer’s needs in district 80. Grantham also points out Shaw receives 87 percent of his campaign contributions from corporations and he also recently voted to give a billion-dollar tax break to Tennessee corporations instead of helping out the taxpayers of Tennessee (House Bill 1893). Shaw is bought and paid for by these corporations.
Grantham’s campaign revolves around revitalization — of both infrastructure and community spirit. He is focused on fusing local knowledge and needs of the people with state resources to present practical solutions for issues that matter the most to residents: economic development, education, healthcare, and public safety.
In recent community engagements, Grantham has gathered wide diverse support, signaling a desire for change among constituents who have grown weary of the status quo.
The stakes for District 80 are high as voters prepare to make their voices heard in the upcoming election. Grantham offers a compelling choice for those desiring a new direction —one where every resident of the district is valued and represented. As the election approaches, it is clear that Grantham’s commitment to his community, combined with his local expertise and vision for the future, could reshape District 80.
In this race, the residents of Hardeman, Madison and Haywood Counties will determine whether they want to continue down the same path or embrace a new perspective.
