Harrison Brings Relief to New Clients by Focusing on the Root of the Problem

Christine Harrison, LMT, a licensed massage therapist since 2008 and NKT certified since 2014, has brought her specialized medical massage services to Hardeman County.

Christine Harrison, LMT celebrated bringing her specialized medical massage services to Hardeman County with a ribbon cutting ceremony, which was held on Monday, November 25, 2024. After the ceremony, Ms. Harrison gave demonstrations of some of the offered services, which she hopes brings relief to her clients by not only addressing pain issues but by “focusing on the root of the problem”.

Ms. Harrison gave demonstrations of some of the testing she conducts on her clients to create a treatment plan.

“Talking with the client and communicating with the client to locate what is causing pain. We want to get to the root cause of the pain,” said Ms. Harrison, who has been a licensed massage therapist since 2008 and NKT certified since 2014. “The root of the problem is not the hurting neck. The problem is a muscle that is not firing is making the neck overwork and hurt. So, I find and activate the muscle, not firing therefore relieving the neck pain.”

Services offered by Ms. Harrison include specialized medical massage and neuromuscular techniques, including Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT) and myofascial work. During the demonstration, Ms. Harrison showed some of the testing she does before creating a treatment plan for a client.

“I do use a little bit of manual work with my hands. I use static holds, like pressure points, and sometimes stretches,” said Ms. Harrison, who hopes to relieve pain and improve mobility of her clients. “NKT takes it a step further. A massage releases the muscle for a temporary fix (and sometimes permanent), but the difference with NKT is that I find the reason why the muscle is hurting, and then correct the dysfunctional pattern.”

Christine Harrison, LMT is located at Meraki Massage and Self Care { 313 West Market Street, Bolivar 38008). Call (731) 518-7215 to schedule an appointment with Christine.
