Whiteville Police Sergeant Desmond Williams Receives Training Certification

JACKSON, TENN. – The Jackson State Community College (JSCC) Police Department recently partnered with Advanced Police Concepts to host Leadership for Front-Line Supervisors and Sergeant Desmond Williams of the Town of Whiteville Police Department was one of 21 individual officers certified as part of the two-day course.

This training, conducted at the JSCC Jackson Campus, marks the first time for JSCC to host a non-credit training of this caliber that is geared specifically toward law enforcement. The two-day course was instructed by Lieutenant Marc Plourde of the Gainesville, Florida Police Department and designed for current or aspiring police supervisors and focused on understanding and developing the qualities and characteristics necessary to be an effective leader.

“This was a great opportunity for the law enforcement community across the region to receive top-tier training from a nationally recognized organization,” said JSCC Chief of Police Aaron Patton. “Officers from Kentucky, Missouri, and across Tennessee were able to receive this training on a premiere college campus thanks to this partnership, and that’s not something you see with many of these trainings. We’re proud to host these officers and look forward to offering more training courses to fulfill the need across our region.”

Other West Tennessee police departments, which took part in the training, include:

  • Madison County Sheriff’s Office
  • Jackson State Community College Police Department
  • Jackson Police Department
  • Munford Police Department
  • Moscow Police Department
  • Tennessee State Parks
