Sea of Blue for Selmer’s Sergeant Finley Passes Through Hardeman County {video}

On Sunday, December 15, 2024, the body of fallen Selmer, Tennessee Police Sergeant Rick Finley was escorted by law enforcement officers from across the State of Tennessee during a procession, which passed through Bolivar in Hardeman County at approximately 5:34 p.m. Sadly, Sergeant Finley’s end of watch as a police officer in McNairy County was on Saturday December 14, 2024, after he was attacked and shot by a suspect, which resulted in his death.

The procession for Sergeant Finley began in Memphis traveling along Highway 64 passing through Fayette County, Hardeman County, and onto its final destination of Shackleford Funeral Home in McNairy County. The City of Bolivar Fire Department parked a fire engine in the parking lot of the City of Bolivar Police Department with a lowered ladder from which an American flag hung signifying a Hardeman County community in mourning with neighboring McNairy County.

A memorial service will be held at Lakeview Church {877 West Cherry Avenue, Selmer, 38375 } on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 10 a.m. through 4 p.m., which is when the funeral service will begin.
