Fayette Cares Supporters Make Christmas Jolly For Families In Need
This holiday season, the spirit of giving shone brightly in our community as Fayette Cares returned to Warren Community Church to host its uplifting toy distribution event. In an inspiring show of kindness and support, residents and local businesses came together to adopt every child from the Fayette Cares Angel Tree program, fulfilling the Christmas wishes of nearly 200 children in need and spreading the magic of the season.
“As a kid, my brother and I were the recipients of gifts from angel trees just like this one. There were times we didn’t even have food in the kitchen,” shared volunteer Kris Locke, who organized a massive community-wide Christmas collection of food and toys for Fayette Cares in her neighborhood, Piperton Preserve.
“My car filled up fast, and I was overwhelmed with gratitude and love for our community. Tears started streaming down my cheeks. It’s because I’ve been without that programs like this touch my heart so deeply. I’m that little girl who might’ve received a Barbie or a Rice Krispies Treat because of people like us. I’m so proud and grateful to be part of this amazing community.”
Thanks to Kris and many other incredible families, businesses, schools, churches, and organizations, every child on the Fayette Cares Angel Tree program was adopted. Fayette Cares staff and an army of volunteers organized and sorted the plethora of toys, coats, and clothing, given with care by generous donors.
This year’s Fayette Cares, Christmas Caring food and toy programs demonstrated the impact of collective generosity and heartfelt caring. Fayette Cares, with the support of community partners and volunteers, turned the holiday season into a time of joy and relief for families in need.
