Arts Council’s Drop Dead Disco: Murder Dinner Theatre Brings Former Actors to Stage
The Hardeman County Arts Council (HCAC) again brings us memorable nights for its annual Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre, Drop Dead Disco, a funkadelic event with an OCD owner, a paranoid dancing queen and a blind disc jockey all hustling under the disco ball. Fans of the HCAC productions, especially the comedies, will be happy to learn this production brings some familiar actors back to the stage and promises to keep the mystery of the killer alive (until the reveal) as well as the laughs coming throughout each performance evening.
“Ginger and I thought it looked like a fun storyline,” said Joyce Byers, who is sharing the director role with Ginger Crowe and Anthony Pulse. “The cast is very talented, fun, and easy to work with.”
That talented, fun, and easy to work with cast includes Ginger Crowe, who last performed in Southern Fried Funeral, and Craig Harris and Heather Harris, who last appeared in the 2024 dinner theatre production Death of a Hot Sauce Salesman. Joining them are three performers. Chris Ramage, Kelly Ramage, and Tim Moss, who return after a long hiatus from the HCAC stage.
Although there is a script, there is a lot of ad-lib in the production, and all six performers are well experienced in ad-lib performance. That style of presentation is one of the reasons so many people enjoy the dinner theatre productions, because you (even the actors) never really know what is going to happen next.
“I love a dinner theater because it is not as involved as a regular play. I enjoy the audience getting involved, especially with murder mysteries.” said Ms. Byers. “I think the audience loves figuring out who is the killer.”
Tickets are $30 each and may be purchased online through Sunday, February 9, 2025, at 5 p.m.
Dust off your disco duds, poof up your pompadour and get ready to get down at the hottest spot this side of the seventies — The Drop Dead Disco. Do a little dance, solve a disco mystery, get down tonight, get down tonight. Also, feel free to come dressed in your best Disco Attire!
Drop Dead Disco show dates are Thursday through Saturday, February 13-15, 2025, at 6 p.m. each evening. The catered dinner will include grilled chicken breast, baked potato, green beans, a roll, and peach cobbler.
