Bolivar’s Jacob Lewis Graduates as Gateway Christian Schools Valedictorian

Jacob Eric Bryce Lewis, age 15 of Bolivar, graduated from Gateway Christian Schools (GCS) as class valedictorian, with English honors, on Friday, January 31, 2025. He was one of 74 students, recognized during a graduation ceremony, which was held in Memphis at Leawood Baptist Church.

Jacob attended Bolivar Elementary School and Bolivar Middle School where he was a member of the school band. During his seventh-grade school year, he made the move to Gateway Christian Schools to continue his education through its extension program, which allowed him to study at home.

“The school I attended, Gateway Christian Schools in Jackson, is an extension school. I would go there once weekly to test, and if needed, see tutors to help guide me along my educational journey,” said Jacob, who shared he has always loved learning.

While a student at GCS, Jacob was able to take dual enrollment courses at Jackson State Community College (JSCC), which he had been doing since 2023. Jacob plans to continue his education in law or business at either Vanderbilt University or Freed-Hardeman University.

Jacob is the son of Jennifer and Andrew Young of Bolivar, and attends Rodger’s Springs Church of Christ with his family.
