Obituary: C.W. Kirk

C.W. Kirk, 93, of Middleton, passed from this life early Wednesday morning, January 22, 2025, at his home.
He was born in Pocahontas to the late Jessie Edward Kirk and Ora Evelyn Galloway Kirk and lived his entire life in Hardeman County. Mr. Kirk was a graduate of Middleton High School where he excelled in basketball. On December 24, 1955, he married Robbie Carol Mullins who passed away on July 27, 1989. He worked 32 years with Bell South as a technician and trouble shooter. Mr. Kirk was a U. S. Air Force veteran who served during the Korean War. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Kirk was a champion coon hunter.
Services will be held at Shackelford Funeral Home on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 2 p.m. in Middleton. The burial will be in the Reaves Cemetery.
He leaves his wife of 34 years, Tommie Sue Kirk, whom he married on December 20, 1990; daughter, Stacie Grantham (Ricky) of Middleton; son, Tim Kirk (Tommie) of Bethel Springs; step-children, Angie Farris (Jimmy) of Bolivar, Chris Jacobs (Beth) of Franklin, and Amy Ragon (Bob) of Mercer; sister, Bernice Bass of Middleton; brothers, Leon Kirk (Lottie) of Olive Branch, Mississippi and James David Kirk (Linda) of Middleton; grandchildren, Craig Harris, Cayla Grantham White, Alex Kirk, Clayton Farris, Christen Plunk Beguiristain, Jacob Ragon, Jordan Ragon Johnston, Ben Jacobs, and Noah Jacobs; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by grandson, Christopher Harris; sister, Louise Ledford; brothers, Roy, Frank and Wilbert Kirk; and step-daughter, Cindy Jacobs Plunk. Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to the American Heart Association.
