Multiple Options to Support Victims of Recent Severe Weather

Severe storm weather ripped through Hardeman County and its surrounding counties, which include McNairy and Fayette, on the evening of Wednesday, April 2, 2025. The storm left damage to businesses, personal property, and sadly fatalities. The aftermath has resulted in hundreds of people needing help and the community is stepping up in a big way.

There are several people, businesses, and organizations, which are aiding those affected by the storm. You may find a location or resource below for making a donation or receiving assistance. The list will be updated as we learn of other available assistance for those in need. If you know of assistance being offered, which is not on the list, please e-mail news@hatchiepress.com and it will be added.

You may donate or receive assistance regardless of where you live.


If you are a student at Jackson State Community College and have been displaced or are in need of assistance as a result of the storm, e-mail fondation@jscc.edu to learn about assistance.

FAYETTE COUNTY
Chapultepec Mexican Restaurant in Moscow is supporting all emergency workers, first responders, and families affected by the storms in the Moscow and Grand Junction areas by offering discounted meals, a place to rest for a few, and a place to charge their phones and use the Internet to get in touch with loved ones.

HARDEMAN COUNTY
Chicago Jerk House {439 Tennessee Street, Bolivar, 38008} is offering free dinner to Grand Junction residents affected by the tornados. The offer is for Friday, April 4, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Family Dollar {2068 US-64, Whiteville, 38075} is accepting donations of batteries/flashlights, children’s shoes and clothing, first aid supplies, non-perishable food, toothbrushes/toothpaste, and water. Contact the store for more information.

First Baptist Church Bolivar {826 West Market Street, Bolivar, 38008} is accepting donations of brushes/combs, cases of water, diapers, personal hygiene for adults and children, and soap and shampoo.

First Baptist Church Middleton {525 Main Street, Middleton, 38052} is accepting donations of brushes/combs, cases of water, cleaning supplies, deodorant, detergent, diapers, pillowcases, sheets, soap and shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, towels, and wipes. Hardeman County Baptist Association {755 Vildo Road, Bolivar 38008} is accepting hygiene products, non-perishable food items, and new and gently used clothing. You may donate on Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, April 4, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday, April 5, 2025, with hours to be determined. The Hardeman County Circuit Clerk’s office {505 South Main Street, Bolivar, 38008} is accepting donations of clean clothing items, deodorant, hand towels, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, water, and wipes. Donations may be dropped off Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Hardeman County Schools is accepting donations of batteries, bottled and canned drinks, bottled water, cleaning supplies, disinfectant wipes, flashlights, garbage bags, gloves, paper plates, paper towels, ready-to-eat non-perishables, snack foods, and toilet tissue. Items may be dropped off at 909 Pruitt Street, Bolivar, 38008, on Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and on Monday, April 7, 2025. from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. No monetary donations will be accepted.

Jones Chapel Church {3190 Highway 18, Grand Junction, 38039} is accepting donations of all size beverages, baby bottles, baby items, batteries, candles, cleaning supplies, diapers, flashlights, formula, garbage bags, Gatorade, juice, gloves, new blankets, new clothes, paper goods, paper plates, paper towels, plastic utensils, ready-to-eat non-perishables, snack food items, socks, toilet tissue, and water. The church has partnered with the Red Cross to provide shelter for those needing a place to stay.

Mac’s Cruzin Cuisine/Sabrina McTizic is serving food to people in Grand Junction at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025. She will be in the Fred’s Parking lot in Bolivar until 1 p.m. accepting donations of food (ex: chips, buns, etc.) and money from people who want to contribute.

Mid-South Restoration Services {145 Locke Road, Somerville, 38068} is a drop-off point for delivery to both Hardeman and McNairy Counties. Accepted donations include personal hygiene Items (shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, hand sanitizer, soap, etc.); toilet paper, paper towels, towels,  wash cloths, etc.; individual size laundry detergent, dryer sheets, etc.; clothing, socks, shoes, baby clothes, etc.; sealed and unopened over the counter medication (Tylenol, Advil, etc.) for children and adults; diapers, baby wipes, baby shampoo, bottles, etc.; and food, snacks, and canned goods, which do not require refrigeration; and cases of bottled water. If you have a preference to which county you would like your donation delivered, please let them know at drop-off.

New Hope Church of Christ will serve hotdogs, chips, water, and desserts tomorrow to residents in Grand Junction and also for volunteer workers on Sunday, April 6, 2025, starting at 12:30 p.m./1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church {138 Tippah Street, Grand Junction, 38039}.

Pine Meadows Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center {700 Nuckolls Road, Bolivar, 38008} is accepting donations of adult/children clothing, brushes/combs, bottled water, diapers, dog/cat food, soap/body wash, and toiletries. Call (731) 658-4707 for more information.

The Southwest Express Cafe Bus will be in Grand Junction Library {530 Madison Ave, Grand Junction, TN 38039} parking lot on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. Free prepared meals will be served to children 18 years old and under who will get to sit on the bus to eat. Pulled pork sandwiches will be served to adults.

MCNAIRY COUNTY
Bumpus Harley-Davidson {326 Carriage House Drive, Jackson, 38305} is accepting donations of baby items (diapers, wipes, formula, etc.), bottled water, clothing and blankets, hygiene products, non-perishable food, and storage totes. Donations may be dropped off Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call (731) 422-5508 for more information.

Domino’s Pizza {226 East Court Avenue, Selmer, 38375} is serving those in need for free.

El Palomino Mexican Restaurant {780 Mulberry Avenue, Selmer, 38375} is inviting those who been affected or been out helping to stop by the restaurant and eat for free on Thursday, April 3, 2025.

El Taco Móvil is offering free meals to those in need on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. It will be set up at 851 High School Road in Selmer on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.

The Honky Tonk Hollar {628 McNairy Road, Bethel Springs, 38315} is feeding anyone for free on Thursday, April 3, 2025, who needs a meal starting at 5 p.m. The offer is open to all “whether you have worked all night, lost your home, or just need a meal, come eat with us! No questions asked!” The offer is for one meal per person and you must be present to get the meal of burgers and hotdogs. The Honky Tonk Hollar is accepting donations from the community to be able to make this happen. Also being collected are blankets, hygiene items, kids and adults new socks and underwear of all sizes, and totes. Call (731) 439-5964 to learn how you can help.

The McNairy County School System will open the Selmer Elementary School storm shelter {entrance to the storm shelter is on the City Park side of the building, entrance E} on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 12 p.m. The shelter will remain open until the threat of severe weather passes.

Moody Cat Coffee Shop {114 Houston Avenue Selmer, 38375} is offering free drip coffee for everyone and free coffee and a meal for first responders and those affected by the storm. Selmer Masonic Lodge {153 South 4th Street, Selmer, 38375} is open for hot meals and hygiene items. 

Selmer Pizza Hut is giving away free pizza at The Courthouse {170 West Court Avenue, Selmer, 38375} on Thursday, April 3, 2025.

The University of Tennessee at Martin-Jackson Center is accepting donations of bottled water, Gatorade, and snacks. You may drop off donations at UTM-Jackson {37 Alumni Drive (McWherter Building, room 110), Jackson, 38301}. Call (731) 425-9277 for more information.

The University of Tennessee at Martin-Selmer Center {1269 Tennessee Avenue, Selmer, 38375} is serving as a command center and accepting donations of bottled water, Gatorade, and snacks. Call (731) 646-1636 for more information.
