Chelsey Perry Signs to Play Professional Basketball in Australia

Chelsey Perry, a Middleton High School (MHS) graduate of the Class of 2017 and a member of the MHS 2015 Lady Tigers State Championship team, is heading to Australia after signing to play with the Rockhampton Cyclones, which is an NBL1 North league team. Her next move with the Cyclones is just another part of her story as she continues her professional basketball career.
“I am very blessed to have this opportunity to be on the court again after being out from back to back injuries. It is an honor for this Tennessee small town girl to represent in Australia. Playing basketball is what I do, not who I am, and I hope I can share my story wherever I go,” said Ms. Perry
After Ms. Perry graduated from MHS, she attended the University of Tennessee at Martin where she excelled academically and on the basketball court. In 2021, she was a 26th pick in the third round during the WNBA draft by the Indiana Fever. In September 2024, Ms. Perry joined the coaching staff at Taylor University in Indiana. She is ready to return to the court as a player and it appears the Cyclones are ready for her too.
According to a Rockhampton Basketball Inc.’s Facebook post, Coach Chris Muggeridge shared his excitement about adding Ms. Perry to the roster.
“I’m incredibly excited to welcome Chelsey Perry to the Cyclones. Chelsey brings elite level experience, a strong work ethic and a versatile skill set. She was a standout in college at UT Martin, where she dominated as an All American and left a legacy as one of the best to ever play in that program. That success carried into her time in the WNBA, and she knows what it takes to win,” said Coach Muggeridge.
