Red, White, and Bolivar Celebrates Independence Day at New Amphitheater {video}

The Red, White, and Bolivar Independence Day Celebration, which was held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Sand Beach Lake was a special occasion for several reasons. Not only was it celebrating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence of America, but it was also recognizing 200 years (three months early – October 18, 1825) since the City of Bolivar was chartered, and five years to the date the event was first held.

Each new year, the attendance has grown. The variety of food options is enough to satisfy all appetites. The music artists are always entertaining, and the fireworks have gotten bigger and better (not that they were ever bad).
On Thursday, the excitement was not just for the entertainment and fireworks, but also for the unveiling of the new pavilion and amphitheater. In October 2023, the City of Bolivar was awarded $601,194.65 by Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) for development at Sand Beach Lake. Both the pavilion and amphitheater were part of that project, which also will include a boat ramp with parking. The City of Bolivar was recently awarded a Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant in the amount of $358,065.84 for its Sand Beach Lake Trail improvement project.

The Amphitheater lit up for the night as the featured music group Party Planet, the Premier Party Band of the Mid South, took the stage. The group previously appeared at the Luez Theater in August 2024 and brought the same high energy to Sand Beach Lake. Lead vocalist Marcus Scott sang a selection of songs, which included “Love and Happiness”, “I’m a Soul Man”, “In the Midnight Hour”, “Knock on Wood”, “Play That Funky Music”, “Billie Jean”, “Very Superstitious”, and more. Party Planet used the amphitheater well with their performance highlighting the possibilities of future attractions on the new stage. As the band closed out the evening with “The Star-Spangled Banner”, the fireworks show began and continued with Lee Greenwood’s God Bless the USA playing.

Happy Independence Day America! Happy Birthday City of Bolivar!
