Bolivar Central Football Returns to Practice After TSSAA Dead Period {video}

Now that the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) Dead Period is officially over, the Bolivar Central High School football Tigers have returned to the field for practice. Head Coach Rennard Woodmore and his assistant coaches, Tyler Joyner, Tony Bonds, David Clayton, David Grisham, and Tyler Joyner, are working hard throughout the next few weeks with players as they prepare for the fall football season.

The TSSAA Dead Period was June 23 through July 6, 2025. During Dead Period, the TSSAA requires an official break where coaches are not permitted to have contact with student athletes in their respective sport, and players are not allowed to participate in practice, workouts, or weight training specific to their sport. According to the TSSAA, the goal is to, “give athletes and coaches a true break-time for family, rest, and recovery without pressure or expectations from sports. It’s all about balance and avoiding burnout.”

Coach Woodmore and his assistant coaches were out on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, working with the players on several drills.

Assistant Coach Tony Bonds had his first string defense demonstrate staying low on a play.

The BHCS Tigers are expected to play their first game at home on Friday, August 22, 2025, against the Lexington High School Tigers.
