Obituary: Charles M. Lanier

Charles M. Lanier, 83, of Middleton, departed this life Friday afternoon, July 4, 2025, at Bolivar General Hospital.
He was born on September 10, 1941, to the late Kelmer Clyde Lanier and Willie Mae Porter Lanier in Middleton. Mr. Lanier was a lifelong resident of Middleton, Tennessee. He was Baptist in faith and attended the Pocahontas First Baptist Church. Mr. Lanier spent 30 years working as a truck driver for Roadway Express out of Memphis, Tennessee. He loved farming and riding a tractor, and he also enjoyed playing rook.
Charles is survived by his bonus wife of 30 years, Diane Leverette of Middleton, Tennessee; a daughter, Pam McClure of Middleton, Tennessee; a son, Tommy Lanier of Hernando, Mississippi; a bonus son, Joe Leverette of Pleasant View, Tennessee; a grandson, Cliff Duvall of Southaven, Mississippi; two bonus grandsons, Brody and Porter Leverette of Pleasant View, Tennessee; and three great-grandchildren, Laney, Charlie, and Grayton Duvall of Southaven, Mississippi.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, David, Jerry, and Ralph Lanier.
Church services will be at Pocahontas First Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 2 p.m. with the burial at Middleton City Cemetery. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar is in charge of professional arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to the Pocahontas First Baptist Church.
