Morgan Talley Earns L. Quentin Lane Award for Academic Achievement

Morgan Tally, a Middleton High School Class of 2024 graduate and former Tiger basketball player is one of 35 Jackson State Community College athletes who earned the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association’s (TCCAA) prestigious L. Quentin Lane Award for Academic Achievement. That accomplishment by those students has moved the university into a standing showing a 150 percent increase over the 14 honorees recognized in 2024.

“This is more than a win—it’s a statement about who we are,” said Dr. Kevin K. Lynum, Athletic Director at JSCC. “We are raising the standard, not just in competition, but in the classroom. I’m incredibly proud of our coaches, academic support team, and most importantly, our student-athletes.”

While a student at MHS, Morgan not only excelled on the basketball court, but also in the classroom. MHS basketball Coach James Burkley shared at Morgan’s JSCC basketball signing in 2024 that he believed she would stand out academically first. After her completing first basketball season and school year as a Green Jay, and now earning the academic recognition, Morgan appears to be continuing her all-around level of success.
