Carl Perkins Exchange Club Kicks Off Festival of Trees Fundraiser

The Hardeman County Carl Perkins Exchange Club for the Prevention of Child Abuse kicked off the Christmas holiday season and its annual Festival of Trees event on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the historic Columns event venue in Bolivar. The already beautiful Columns was accented with decorative pieces, reflective of a summer beach theme. There was delicious finger food, just right for the occasion, and soothing music played in the background by pianist Curtis Jones, which created a welcoming environment for the evening.

The Festival of Trees is one of the three largest annual fundraisers the Hardeman County Club does, which also includes “Family Feud” and “A Night at the Races”. The December 2024 Festival of Trees fundraiser had 19 area businesses, organizations, and government offices, which decorated trees and were in competition for the titles of Children’s Choice, Community Favorite, and Judges Best. The Hardeman County Club named three winning trees from that competition.

“All of the funds that are raised stay here in Hardeman County and are used to help support our services,” said Director of the Hardeman County Carl Perkins Exchange Club Monica Goodman, who shared some instances of how the funds have supported the area center. “Our therapy program for the children has grown. We have a new therapist and have been able to redo the therapy room. That is something we really worked hard on.”

This will be the seventh year the Festival of Trees has been held in Hardeman County. Individuals, groups, businesses, anyone who would like to decorate a tree, are encouraged to support the efforts of the organization. Registration forms to enter a tree in the Festival of Trees are available at the Carl Perkins Center {149 Tennessee Street, Bolivar, 38008} or you may call (731) 659-2373. Registration will remain open through mid-November.
