Middleton’s Mural Grows with Bank of Middleton Addition

Not too sure how one comes back after perfection, but that is what artist Loralea Landrum did when she returned to add one more City of Middleton memory to the mural she completed painting in June. The familiar sight of Loralea painting was seen by passers-by in Middleton as she added an image of the Bank of Middleton, which was established in 1905. Once again, the excitement returned to the community as it awaited the final reveal of the mural.

Through the original mural, Loralea was able to capture so much of the City of Middleton history on a measured blank canvas with everything strategically placed to meet the planned goal of the design. Typically, coming after a completed mural project, adding more to a design can be difficult. Fortunately, Loralea easily found the perfect spot to add the Bank of Middleton to the mural.

“Sometimes it is [hard coming behind a finished mural], but this was okay because there was a good spot open for it,” said Loralea, who laughing shared what was a challenge. “It was incredibly hot!”

It took four days to complete the update. Loralea worked through the heat and took breaks whenever it started to rain.

Loralea is pleased with the update she made to the mural, which is supposed to be the final addition to the design. She enjoyed returning and seeing so many people from the Middleton community.

“Middleton is a great little city,” said Loralea.

The next time you are in Middleton, stop by the mural addition in person.
