Obituary: Wallace West

Mr. Wallace West, 87, of Bolivar, passed from this life on Thursday morning, August 28, 2025, at Christian Care Center.
A native of Hardeman County, Mr. West was the son of the late Farris and Annie Bishop West. Other family members who preceded him in death are his son, Steve West, and three brothers, James Donald, Billy Morris, and Nicky West.
Mr. West, upon graduation, moved to Memphis were he lived until 2007. While there, he worked for Stratton-Warren Hardware and retired as a supervisor for Wesson Foods following 42 years of service. He then moved to Tipton County where he lived for 18 years before finally returning to Hardeman County five years ago.
An avid hunter, fisherman, and dog lover, he most often was seen with his ball cap on and enjoying some Red Man tobacco. Mr. West was a Mason and often made homemade ice cream in the summer for his family. He loved being around babies and children, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at Shackelford Funeral Directors on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 2 p.m. in Bolivar.
He is survived by four children, James “Randy” West of Oakland, Candy (Jerry) Halbrook of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, Wallace R. (Lisa) West of Whiteville, and Melissa (Cody) Beck of Destin, Florida; three sisters, Patricia Sheffield of Collierville, Nancy (Henry) Frost of Bolivar, and Pam (Wayne) Brown of Montgomery, Alabama; eleven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
