Timeless Treasures Provides Excursions and Educational Opportunities for Senior Adults

Through the City of Bolivar’s Timeless Treasures program, senior adults are able to move away from the stereotype of growing older and staying at home and instead enjoy life by going on excursions, actively socializing with others, and growing from educational experiences.
“Bolivar’s Timeless Treasures is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and welcoming community where senior adults can connect, stay active, and enjoy meaningful experiences together,” said Bolivar Community Development and Tourism Director Dylan Hill.

Since the program started earlier this year, Timeless Treasures has included trips to the Casey Jones Village in Jackson, Tennessee where a delicious lunch followed at the famous Old Country Store Buffet. The visit to Shiloh National Military Park was full of exploration and history and finished with lunch at Hagy’s Catfish Hotel. The group also enjoyed a trip to a fish fry in Paris, Tennessee.
“They had a great time enjoying the parade, fish plates, and the craft fair,” said Mr. Hill, who shared more about the goals of Timeless Treasures. “Through these trips and activities, we celebrate the joy of friendship, lifelong learning, and adventure.”

On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, Timeless Treasures held a Lunch and Learn meeting at Bolivar City Hall, which was sponsored by Centennial Bank. It was a day of fun and education with attendees playing a game of “Name That Tune”, eating a delicious lunch, and learning about how to avoid scams and fraud in a presentation by Centennial Bank’s Lindsay Maxwell and Julie Strope.
“Building community. That’s my hope for all of Bolivar. We’re better together . . . always! So, this is just one piece to that puzzle,” said Mr. Hill.
