Governor Lee Proclamations 4-H Week 2025

Governor Bill Lee proclaimed October 5-11, 2025, as 4-H Week in the State of Tennessee. in the proclamation, he noted the youth development organization has “supported more than six million youth across the country; and . . . has supported approximately 152,000 youth across the state annually. Even closer to home in Hardeman County, 4-H has supported hundreds of youth from area schools.

During 4-H Week in 2023, Hardeman County 4-H Extension agent Gary Rodgers celebrated 23 years with the organization. At that time, Mr. Rodgers shared some comments about the value of 4-H in the lives of young people.

“4-H helps young people learn life skills and gives them an opportunity to work with others to learn more about various topics. We have a lot to offer in Tennessee 4-H,” said Rodgers, “I love interacting with the youth in our clubs. It’s also very satisfying when the youth excel in an activity, whether it’s a speech, judging contest, or at a 4-H camp event.”

In Hardeman County, Mr. Rodgers mentors and supports approximately 1,250 4-H public school and home school students. Through programming in agriculture, citizenship, science, and more, students from Hardeman County have excelled in education in those areas as well as earned championship recognition in judging competitions.

Several activities are planned for 4-H this week. One big event is Giving Tuesday, where you can support Hardeman County 4-H and its efforts. The Tennessee Farmers Cooperative Foundation and private donors have provided $13,000 in matching funds to help fund your favorite 4-H club or activity.
