Benny Hampton, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in Bolivar, Tennessee, just after his 91st birthday. Born on October 5, 1934, in Hardeman County, Tennessee, he lived his entire life there, except for his service in the U.S. Air Force.

Upon returning from military service, Benny established himself as a skilled carpenter, retiring in 1989. His craftsmanship on each project was a testament to his attention to detail and unwavering commitment to quality.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Frances Roberts Hampton of Toone, who stood by his side through 71 years of marriage, providing love and companionship. His legacy lives on in his children, Barbara Hampton Davis and her husband Randy of Toone, Richard Anthony Hampton of Toone, and Thomas Gene Hampton of Franklin. Each of them carries forward Benny’s values, kindness, and work ethic.

He was not only a father, but a proud grandfather to Jessica Davis Bryan and her husband David, and Daniel Alan Davis and wife, Catherine. His heart swelled with joy in the presence of his great-grandchildren, Raylan Davis, Joseph Bryan and Annabelle Davis.

Benny held firm to his faith as a member of Toone Baptist Church. He was also active in the Masonic Lodge in Bolivar and the Shriners. Benny enjoyed fishing with family and friends.

Benny was predeceased by his parents, James Berdon Hampton and Nannie May Landers Hampton, who instilled in him the values of hard work and integrity. He was also reunited in spirit with his siblings, brothers, David, Roscoe, Alton Hampton, and sister, Melinda Ann Dorris.

The visitation to celebrate Benny’s life was held at Shackelford Funeral Directors on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Bolivar. A graveside service followed at Rainey Cemetery in Toone, where Benny was interred.
