Obituary: Renee Howell

Renee Howell, beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in Corinth, Mississippi, at the age of 65. Born on March 7, 1960, in Memphis, Tennessee, her vibrant spirit and loving nature touched all who knew her, creating bonds that will endure far beyond her earthly presence.
Renee dedicated over seven years of her life working at Blue Sky Convenient Store in Walnut, Mississippi, and also contributed her talents at McDonald’s and Fred’s Dollar Store. Her warm smile and kind heart made her a cherished coworker and a dependable friend to many. She loved the simple pleasures of life, such as drinking coffee and tea, cleaning her home with delightful air fresheners, and indulging in shopping trips, especially at her favorite stores like Hobby Lobby, Walmart, Target, and Lowe’s.
An avid cook, Renee relished preparing meals and hosting cookouts surrounded by family and friends. The memories forged during lively bonfire nights, fishing outings, and sunny days swimming at the beach in Florida reflect the joyful essence of her character. She found happiness in the small complexities of life, exploring the beauty of her yard, nurturing plants, and playing with animals, activities of which she was immensely proud.
Renee’s love for family was unparalleled. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Tiffany Howell of Pocahontas, and her devoted son, Chris Howell of Pocahontas. Her father, Eugene James of Byhalia, Mississippi, and her brothers, Danny James and Carroll of Palmyra, Virginia, and Jeffrey Shumate of Collierville, hold dear the memories of their time spent together. These cherished family members will continue to carry her legacy forward.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Lee Howell in 2011; her mother, Rebecca Vernette James; and her sister, Cynthia Shumate. Their absence will resonate within her family, yet the love and memories shared will forever bind them together.
Renee had an affinity for entertainment, finding joy in her favorite movies such as “Meet The Millers,” “Hangover,” and “Ted,” and television shows like “Southern Charm,” “Real Housewives,” and “Below Deck.” Her nights were often spent catching up on the news or watching “Live PD,” moments that brought her comfort after long, rewarding days.
