Obituary: Larry “Bootsy” Price

Larry “Bootsy” Price ~ February 22, 1949 – October 7, 2025 (age 76)

Larry “Bootsy” Price, a beloved son, father, brother, and friend, embarked on his final journey on October 7, 2025, in Bolivar, Tennessee, at the age of 76. Born on February 22, 1949, in Williston, Tennessee, Bootsy’s life was a testament to his unwavering faith as a Christian and his deep passion for the simpler joys that life offered.

Throughout his career, Bootsy made notable contributions as a sign installer for Frank Balton Signs and Peck Sign Company, later establishing his own identity as Price Sign Services. His skill and dedication in this field gained him respect and admiration from peers and clients alike, marking a proud chapter in his life where he thrived professionally.

Bootsy was not only defined by his career but also by the rich tapestry of memories he wove with friends and family. He had a zest for life that extended to his hobbies, particularly his love for deer hunting. There were many cherished moments spent in the woods, where he found solace and happiness. Bootsy was equally passionate about football, particularly cheering for the University of Alabama, and he found great joy in watching games alongside his dear friends Mike Henry, Charles Simmons, and Mike Hutchison. These friendships illuminated his life, embodying the spirit of camaraderie and joy.

Above all else, Bootsy cherished his family. He is survived by his daughter, Shelley Price Williams of Cedar Rapids, IA, and his brother, Donnie Price of Bakersville, Missouri. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who carry forward the legacy of love and laughter that he instilled in their lives.

Bootsy now reunites with those who have passed before him, including his parents, Martin Price and Louise Smith Price, his wife, Kathy Cooke Price, his brothers, George, Billy, and Bobby Price, his sister, Mary Ann Baker, and his son Marty Price. The love that he shared with each of them continues to resonate deeply within the hearts of those left behind.

His memory will be honored through a Memorial Gathering at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar, Tennessee, on October 19, 2025, starting at 1 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 2 p.m., paying tribute to a life well-lived. As friends and family come together to celebrate Bootsy’s legacy, they will remember him not just for his accomplishments but for the warmth, humor, and love he shared with everyone around him. Larry “Bootsy” Price will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him dearly. Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to the American Diabetes Association.
