Middleton to Recognize 1981, 1991, and 2011 Tigers, and Lady Tigers 2016 Basketball Teams
This season, Middleton High School (MHS) head basketball coach James Burkley will recognize four legacy state tournament teams and their coaches from the basketball program. The 1981 boys, the 1991 boys, the 2011 boys, and the 2016 girls state tournament teams will take the places center court at a January 2026 home game.
It has been 45 years since the 1981 Middleton High School Tigers basketball team played together as a final four team coached by Marvin Day. On Tuesday, January 6, 2026, that team of boys will be recognized for their successful season and impressive legacy they left at MHS.
The Tigers on the 1981 team include the following players:

- Tim Dixon
- Ernest Gibbs
- Wayne Haddix
- Gary Hall
- Alex Holcomb
- Eddie Lake
- Alfred Perkins
- James Prewitt
- Zem Prewitt
- James Pugh
- Ray Reaves
- Erik Warren
- Lawrence Woody
- Sandy Yopp
It has been 10 years since the 2016 Middleton High School Lady Tigers basketball team played together as a final four team coached by James Burkley. On Friday, January 9, 2026, that team of girls will be recognized for their successful season and impressive legacy they left at MHS.
The Lady Tigers on the 2016 team include the following players:

It has been 15 years since the 2011 Middleton High School Tigers basketball team played together as a runners-up team coached by James Burkley. On Saturday, January 10, 2026, that team of boys will be recognized for their successful season and impressive legacy they left at MHS.

It has been 35 years since the 1991 Middleton High School Tigers basketball team played together as a final four team coached by Larry Smalley. On Friday, January 16, 2026, that team of boys will be recognized for their successful season and impressive legacy they left at MHS.
