Middleton Elementary’s Cassie Elliott Graduates from UTM WestTeach
Cassie Elliott, a teacher at Middleton Elementary School (MES), graduated with the University of Tennessee at Martin (UTM) WestTeach Leadership Program’s Class of 2025 on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. She was one of 28 students selected to participate in the class of 2025, which is the largest since the program began in 2017.
WestTeach was created as a class project by the 2017 WestStar Leadership Program class to support teacher development. The program participants in the 2025 class included K-12 teachers from 14 West Tennessee counties and 19 school districts. The class met through the fall in four daylong sessions starting in August.
It was announced in June 2025 that Ms. Elliott had been selected to participate in the WestTeach program. Just two months prior, Ms. Elliott was recognized by the Hardeman County Schools board as a 2024/2025 Teacher of the Year for MES.
