Retired Teachers Hold Meeting and Donate Supplies to STEM Center

The Hardeman County Retired Teachers’ Association January 2026 meeting was held in the Bolivar Central High School library where principal Brittany Avent shared updates to the school’s campus as well as its curriculum and programming, highlighting the district’s Advancing status for 2024-2025 school year, the addition of the Ayers Foundation Scholars program, and building improvements such as the new entry facades, windows, flooring, ceiling tile, and lighting.
She showcased the district’s Middle College and introduced three Middle College juniors at work in the library. Middle College makes it possible for eligible, dedicated students to graduate not only with a high school diploma but also with an associate’s degree from Jackson State Community College with most of the cost covered by state grants.
Students may also earn multiple career-technical certificates during their time at BCHS through a partnership with the Tennessee College of Applied Technology.

For the past several years, the Hardeman County Retired Teachers’ Association (HCRTA) has undertaken each January to donate school supplies to the elementary schools in the district. These supplies primarily support 3rd grade teachers who are preparing students for state testing in the spring.
For the first time, HCRTA members also decided to collect supplies for the Hardeman County STEM Center.
