Republican Party Holds First Meeting of 2026

The Hardeman County Republican Party held its first meeting of 2026 on January 13. Nearly 30 citizens were in attendance. During the meeting, Gary Borrowclough tendered his position as chairman and Austin Bell was elected to be the new party chairman.

There were nine candidates for this year’s county election in attendance. Each candidate introduced themselves and gave a brief summary of why they would like to be elected.  Those candidates in attendance included; Greg Bennett for Mayor, David Nabors for Sheriff, Jennifer Burkeen for Circuit Court Clerk, John Vickers and Ron Pirtle for County Clerk, Hannah Clifton and Mark Gilliam for Register of Deeds, David Bell for County Commissioner District 5 Position 2 (Middleton), and Trevor Bell for County Road Supervisor District 2.

Nearly 50 Hardeman County residents have picked up petitions for the upcoming election, expressing their interest in running for one of the 32 positions that will be on the ballot in 2026. {click here to see who has picked up a petition}
