Obituary: Dorothy “Lucy” Watkins

Dorothy “Lucy” Watkins, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 95 on March 7, 2026, in Collierville, Tennessee.

She was born on November 2, 1930, in Saulsbury, Tennessee, to Gaston and Ruby Street Daniel.  On March 29, 1950, she married Hubbard Watkins.  Together they made their home south of Grand Junction, Tennessee where they raised their two daughters, Rebecca and Karen.

Lucy worked for First State Bank for 40 years.  She loved her church and its late pastor, Brother Troy.  Even in later life, Lucy faithfully read her Bible each day and enjoyed singing hymns.

Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Hubbard Watkins; her parents, Gaston and Ruby Daniel; her two brothers, Thomas and Frank; and her sister, JoAnn.

She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca (Dr. Paul Gregory) and Karen (Greg Brinkley); her grandchildren, Amy Gregory Harrison (Kenny), Daniel Gregory, Connor Brinkley and Claire Brinkley; as well as two brothers, Tate and Freddie, and two sisters, Shirley and Linda.

Lucy was laid to rest on Friday, March 13, 2026, in Grand Junction, TN.  Visitation was  held at 1 pm at Grand Junction First Baptist Church followed by a 2 pm service and burial was in Grand Junction Cemetery.  Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to Grand Junction First Baptist Church.
