Officer Injured During Assault at Whiteville Correctional Facility
A correctional officer was injured and transported to the hospital after an assault at the Whiteville Correctional Facility on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
The press release stated: “At approximately 7:23 a.m. (CDT) April 4, Whiteville Correctional Facility (WCF) staff responded to an incident involving an inmate assault on two correctional officers. Officers intervened to quickly stop the assault. One of the officers sustained an injury during the incident and health services personnel responded and provided medical treatment. After an evaluation, a decision was made to transport the correctional officer to a local hospital for treatment. The inmate involved was not injured.”
“Our partners at the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) were immediately notified of this incident.”
