Utility Pole Inspection Begins in Toone

Bolivar Energy Authority (BEA) will begin utility pole inspections the month of October in the Toone substation area that includes Toone and Cloverport. Utility poles will be inspected and analyzed for signs of decay, damage, or other issues. The company performing the inspections is Osmose, Inc. and their trucks should be marked with the company logo.

Utility poles are tagged after they are inspected.

“Utility pole inspections are done on a yearly basis,” said Tony Kirk, CEO of BEA. “We began this process around five years ago. This will be the first formal inspection in Toone.”

The Toone substation is one of seven with the other six being located in Bolivar, Grand Junction, Hebron, Powell Chapel (Hornsby), Saulsbury, and Union Springs (Whiteville).

Interruptions to service are not expected unless repairs need to be done.

“If we find a bad pole, there may have to be one depending on the pole and location,” said Kirk. “At this time no interruption is planned.”

The Toone Substation service area is shown below:

Hwy 18 North from the Hatchie River to Madison County line plus roads that intersect Hwy 18 North along this route.
Hwy 125 North from Shandy area to Silerton area.
