Bolivar Central High School (BCHS) held a College & Career Day event for eleventh and twelfth grade students last week. Business partners from a variety of companies and community leaders came together at the school to share information about their workplace and their education. The representatives discussed the skills and certifications required for success in their career.

Colleges and universities also participated and informed students about the programs they offer, salaries in individual careers, and requirements for each career path.

“The students enjoyed the event,” said Catania J. Minter, BCHS School Counselor. “They gained knowledge of what each institution has to offer, salary scales of different careers, received information on the requirements for different career fields, and enjoyed the gifts and treats that each representative gifted him/her with.”

In all, over 40 businesses, community leaders, and colleges participated. Ms. Minter plans to host another College & Career Day next fall.
