The Hardeman Adoptable Animals (HAA) received a $500 donation from the Bolivar Walmart through the local community grant program.

“Walmart makes it a point to give back as much as possible,” said Bolivar Walmart Store Manager Cabe Sala.

Donna Lane, HAA Vice President was on hand to accept the donation for the organization.

“The plan for the money is to help Hardeman County residents on government assistance to spay or neuter their pet,” said Lane. “The HAA is a 501-3C nonprofit organization. It saves approximately 500 strays, owner surrendered, and abused dogs each year and relies solely on donations and volunteers to do what it does.”

Lane is thankful for the donation and also shared another need for HAA right now.

“We need volunteers to help with the daily care of the dogs at the shelter by walking, socializing, feeding, and the daily cleaning of the kennels,” said Lane who has been a lead volunteer for the past 10 years.

According to Sala, the local community grant program actively gives throughout the year.

“So far this year, we have assisted nine different Hardeman County non-profit organizations,” said Sala. “The community puts a lot into Walmart and any opportunity we have to give back, we like to take advantage of that.”

The local community grant application opens February 1 and closes December 31 each year.
