Tech Helps Computer Literacy Class for Seniors Begins Monday in Bolivar
A free computer literacy program designed to help seniors and adults with disabilities become more comfortable using technology will begin Monday, August 10, in Bolivar.
The Tech Helps program will hold classes August 10, 11, and 13, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Southwest Community Service Center, located at 202 Hope Street in Bolivar. Sign-ups are still open for the upcoming class.
Tech Helps is designed for adults age 60 and older, as well as adults with disabilities, and aims to give participants the skills and confidence needed to navigate an increasingly digital world.
First-time participants will receive a free Chromebook along with 15 hours of classroom training. Training will cover topics including Google, Google Play, connecting to Wi-Fi, internet use, and cybersecurity.
Chromebooks provided to first-time participants are theirs to keep after completing the course, with a limit of one Chromebook per household.
Assistance will also be available to help participants find and access low-cost internet options. For those who need transportation, free transportation to and from the training sessions is available through the Southwest HRA Transportation Department.
Eligibility for the program includes individuals age 60 or older or adults with disabilities who meet Southwest HRA income guidelines. Individuals who do not meet the income guidelines are still welcome to attend, and staff can provide additional guidance about available options.
