Halloween Fun Brings Seniors Together at Bolivar-Hardeman County Library
By: Hannah Thompson
Senior citizens, library staff, Sara Skinner, Hardeman County Dementia Navigator, and Lisa Nelms, Friends of the Library President, gathered Thursday morning at the Bolivar-Hardeman County Library for a Halloween party filled with games, laughs, and plenty of treats.
Participants dressed in Halloween costumes and voted in a costume contest featuring three categories: Scariest Costume, Funniest Costume, and Best Overall Costume. This year’s winners were Sandra Cobb as a witch for Scariest Costume, Hannah Thompson as Poison Ivy for Funniest Costume, and Christy Holden as Little Red Riding Hood for Best Overall Costume.
The morning also featured Halloween charades, a bean bag toss, and a Finish the Sentence game. Participants enjoyed pizza, soda, and candy while reminiscing about music they have enjoyed throughout their lives, including Michael Jackson’s classic hit “Thriller.”
The Bolivar-Hardeman County Library will host a Senior County Fair on November 13, 2026, in collaboration with Hardeman County Dementia Navigator Sara Skinner. The event will provide another opportunity for seniors to gather and enjoy activities in the community and learn about additional resources from Ms. Skinner.
